Web site URL warning

Any of you who are teachers or parents of young children may be interested in the following information. Please be warned that if you actually go to the site, you will reach a hard-core porn site! That's why I have not made the URL a clickable link.

The name of the site is "www.kidsvista.com". Whoever had the name registered has let it lapse and it is now available for re-registration. In the meantime, it is probably being rented to the operators of the porn site.

I personally make no judgments as to what adults choose to do. But I feel it's way over the line to imply that the site is for kids.

Apparently, the current link for the site name was just enabled on July 11th! I found out about it from an e-mail from a parent who found it on a web site I manage for a school. I got the link about 4 years ago from a list of educational resources at which time it was a legitimate educational site. I'd bet a lot of other schools may have the link on their sites as well.

Well, well, well! A local IBM rep just called me to say that the site was no longer active (at least for now). Can't get a response by pinging either the name or the IP address. It's still in several DNS servers though. Maybe it's just down temporarily

I heard about this, either on the radio, or in the newspaper.
The "new" owner of the domain claims he was unaware of it's prior use. He has also promised to yank the site, so I don't think you'll be seeing it return.
