Thanks For The Memories, Cakewalk

Post by Kenneth Kotsay »

First off, thanks for all the help, JACK, CARL, DAN & BILL. You guys went out of your way trying to get my Profex settings to load, again thanks a million.

Get a LOAD of the following:

For over four weeks I have been trying to load my Profex II settings into my computer and I believe found the answer why I have been unable to load.

ANWSER:

Ken,
Cakewalk Home Studio can not save or load SYSEX banks. You would need
to upgrade to Guitar Studio 2 or SONAR in order to do that. Call
888-CAKEWALK in order to obtain the update.

MUSICIAN'S FRIEND PRICE LIST:
SONAR...............$299.00
GUITAR STUDIO 2.....$169.00

After receiving this e-mail today from the CAKEWALK company I'm glade I live in the state of Florida, if this state had high mountains my PC along with my CAKEWALK program would take a long ride off a high mountain cliff.

Someday computers will be obsolete, some guy inside of a garage will re-invent the pencil and padded line writing paper.... good bye PCs & Software.

Wow. Ken, please don't beat around the bush, tell us how you really feel.

It reminds me of the statement we'd all like to send now and then.

**** you. Strong letter to follow.

KEN - What gets me really boiling at CAKEWALK is I read every inch of the box and all manuals, papers etc. that came with it and I also went into the help section of CW and there is not one word telling me I cannot load any SYSEX file etc. There's plenty of stuff about SYSEX in CW help section but not a word about not being able to load with the two versions I have.

I have been down this road before on different consumer products and software. The people at the MARS MUSIC store in Ft Lauderdale aren't too helpful either, that's if you can find a sales person there on a Saturday afternoon. If you do find one they usually rush you or they can't tell you about a certain item, "it's not their department". That's what happen when I purchased Cakewalk, the salesperson told me the guy who handles the music software was out so I asked him what's his excuss. Make a long story short I went ahead and purchased CW Home Studio resulting in 4 weeks of burning out my brain over loading SYSEX files.

Thanks for your post. My advice is anything you buy if it don't work the first time take it back and get your cash back.

KEN
