Topic: Any Ham Radio Steelers on 10 meters ? |

Wow... the band is sure open!!!
Just curious if there are any steeler Ham radio operators that are working the 10 meter band during this band opening.
I have not had my HF gear turned on in a while. Man, what a mistake.
I am in Upstate NY and have worked, Florida, New Jersy (**close skip**), Texas, Georgia, Indianna, Illinois, California, Oregon, Washington State, North Dakota and more...
So far have worked these staions this morning all with 5,9 reports.
Just thought maybe some Steeling Ham's might want to sched on a frequency with this opening.

Nice to hear 10 is open again.
Unfortunately, I sold my HF gear when I moved to Florida.
Maybe I should get some more.

Kurt, the ARRL 10 meter contest was on this weekend, one reason for so much activity. I think I did 408 Q's in the contest but New York is a little hard to work for Ohio. A lot of fun but not for all the time.

Hi Kurt! de N6UAC......what freq do U usually hang out on? I have a little ant. prob right now, but as soon as the snow lets up I'll try crankin up the ol TS830S or the 430S. Just LOVE 10M. 73.....Cz

Hey Gang,
Glad to hear that there are a few 10m fans out there. As always, it has always been a very fickle band... either wide open, or shut right down tight for months.
Latley, it has been open. Yes, you are right about the ARRL Contest and boy where those guys contesting.
I understand that we are heading into another sunspot peak. So look out DX here we come.
I have my most fun on 10m ssb, usually around 28.425.
(give or take 20kc +/-)
Every once in a while I'll dust off the key as well, but I'm a slow poke.
At home I run an old Yeasu FT-101E and a Kenwood TS-120S... In the Car an RCI-2970 10m rig and a Kenwwod 2m FM for repeaters.
I'll listen for you guys.

If you think 10 is good you should try 40 CW. That band has been good every day for the past month. That's where I've been operating lately. There is always someone on.

It keyed up for the first time this year last weekend.

Glad to hear ham radio and steeling go together. I am new to PSG, but old to hamming (40 yrs). 10 has been great. I use it mostly when mobile.

73 from KF4ILI in south Florida. I havent been on 10 meters for a while. I like to chew the fat - not listen to "CQ contest" for hours on end. Just getting started on the steel and waiting for my Derby D10 to arrive.

Hi Bob, I don't think I remembered you were a Radio ham.
I was a high speed radio operator in the Signal Corps, WWII. Learned Morse code and Japanese Katakana code. When I got out, dropped all interest, but now wish I had kept on with it. (Morse is dead now, CQ.did dah did dah dit....

To reiterate an earlier post, WOW!!
I thought I was the only guy crazy enough to practice steel and morse code at the same time. I don't have any HF gear at the present, but hopefully the new year will be kind enough to allow me to purchase a few items.
Wouldn't it be something if we were all able to get together on the air and ramble on about steelin'. Probably won't happen, but its a nice thought anyhow.
