Hello Mike,
I am NOT getting the desired highs (freq) from my ProfexII. (even with the mod as supplied from the Peavey factory, or even using John Lemay's mod) Note, two seperate Profex II units sampled here.
I can use the Nashville 400 amp alone,it sounds really great, but when I use the ProfexII for the FX stuff,it is really missing the high freq stuff and it sounds muffeled.
Is this a programming problem or do I really need to employ a EQ unit to regain the the lost hi freq stuff?
I generally go from the ProfexII to a Power amp so I am not killing the highs thru some use of an tuner or other FX unit.
Any help here would be most needed !!!

Muddiness is one of the things I hated about the Profex II that I had. However, I did a Lemay mod on one and it really improved the sound considerably.
Another thing is the Jeff Newman programs. If you're running a two channel amp and 12" Peavey speakers they are not quite as bassy, but if you're running to an amp, such as a Nashville 400 (into the power amp in) the programs still sound muddy or bassy to me.
It's not the Nashville 400, it's the eq in the Newman programs.
Try changing the EQ in one program and see if it helps any.
Another option is to sell the Profex II and buy a Transtube Fex. The TT Fex will give you the bright clean sound. |
