Thanks Jeff for your kind words.....muchly appreciated.
And thanks to the rest of you for your comments.
Gerald, my wife and I are currently trying to figure out HOW, an old truck driver could possibly make a trip that far from home. When we purchased the conversion van, it was with the idea that the two of us could trade off on driving chores so we COULD attend just this kind of event. However, the wife cannot reach the pedals on the floor, so I have to do all of the driving.
I'm attempting to figure out how to put a smaller steering wheel in the rig so Sally can stand up and drive and steer the way we used to have to when driving the old DIVCO milk and retail bread deliver trucks of bygone years.
It surely would be nice to attend, and a great opportunity to meet not only Jeff, but yourself and all the other fine Hawaiian steel guitar players/lovers. |

Ray, there's enough time for you to install a knee lever (RKR) so that you and Mrs. Montee will be able to make it.!

You will get to the islands when I win the lottery: It will be an airplane with big old round engines on it...big enough useful for our steels and whatever else.You get the left seat and I get the right..I think a A-26 or maybe a B-25 would be about right...Dream on.....

| Hey Jeff: What's the asking price on that airplane? Is it in "orginal" military type configuration; or, is on one of the custom On-Mark converstions that was popular back at the time of the Cuban conflict? AN outfit was custom making them for military and civilian exec. use, complete with tip tanks and the like. Fast little airplane. The Aero Commander 7-psgr exec.aircraft was an offshoot of Ted Smith's A-26 design, as I recall. You can verify this by checking out the tail configuration. |

From what I remember. the Consolidated A26 and the later B26 (not the Martin) were the fastest of our medium bombers in "the big one"
That rig would be great for hopping around Hawaii, and it would only use about 120 gallons an hour (for each engine).

Bill, I've NEVER given up hope that one day I might be, however, that dream seems to be rapidly fading into gray. And there, of course, sits that Hollywood movie actor with his Boeing 707 and Grumman Gulfstream sitting outside his residential doorway down in Florida, complete with 7,500 foot runway.
I wonder if that's the same place once owned by the famous multi-millionaire exercise equipment manufacturer with the buxom blond wife??? Just wondering, of course.
I can still recall when I used to jump in my twin-engine Cessna 310 and fly up to Seattle Boeing Field for lunch; or, down to Oregon's Salishan Lodge, on the coast, for the same. 100/130 octane was like, 38 cents per gallon.
