Here:
is one of my favorite pictures; poorly reproduced but the kind of thing you just don't see much of these days. It's the Notting Hillbillies (l-r: Steve Phillips, Mark Knopfler, Guy Fletcher and Brendan Croker) from Rolling Stone, April 5, 1990.
The headline reads: Mark Knopfler Heads for the Hills - guitarist gets in a few country licks with the Notting Hillbillies before reforming Dire Straits.
The article said Knopfler "hopes to lure Paul Franklin away from his lucrative studio life to join the Notting Hillbilles when the start a six-week tour of England this April."
Don't know whether Paul actually did the tour, but if he'd shown up for this picture he'd have probably been leaning on a Pedabro. |

Great picture!
I don't know if Paul did that tour, but he played with Mark Knopfler and the Dire Straits and contributed a lot to the sound!
Kind Regards, Walter

The International Saxaphone Quartet is looking to hook up with these guys. Don't anybody tell them how to find them. |
