Intro to Gene Watson song

Post by Jason Powers »

For those of us who love Gene Watson, (and I don't know many people who don't) Everybody needs to check out his version of "No One Will Ever Know" The fiddle and steel intro is absolutely AWESOME!!! I found this on Gene's "18 Greatest Hits" CD. If anyone has heard it and knows who played steel, please post.

I have a 33 1/3 LP with that on it but it doesn't say anything about the musicians. But Lloyd Green did a lot of his sessions including Farewell Party.

I don't have a recording of that; but if you can plop a sound bite of it up here, I can tell you who it was.
And we can put the clip on the Rebel and Ricky site and I'll tab it too. I love the Gene Watson stuff waaaaaaaaaay much.

Checked Gene's tour schedule on Pollstar.com just yesterday. He's going to be nearby in Xenia, OH on August 4th. I'll have to go check into this one...

Is this the song that modulated about three times? I remember hearing it on the way home from a gig about 1980! Sounded like Buddy! Al

I have the intro on my web site as an MPEG file. This is the original version.

It is from The Capitol 33 1/3 LP Album "No One Will Ever Know" #ST-12102.

They list the musicians but not for the individual songs. It lists both Lloyd Green and Sonny Garrish for steel. It lists Buddy Spicher and I assume he's the one doing the fiddle intro.

Here is the link to the file:

Since Graham and Ricky have the clip on their web sites, I'm deleting it from mine, as I need the space.
