That would be Austin, TX, of course.

I have made 12 of the 14 SXSW's, but will be skipping it this year--too much other travel.

Speaking of SXSW; I will be pickin' with a kid named Rodney Hayden at the Broken Spoke on the night of 16th. I will also be pickin' with Ed Burleson at the Broken Spoke on the night of the 18th. Both these guys are very up and coming Pure Honky Tonkers; and a must hear. See ya there.

I will be playing Weds. 3/15 at the Broken Spoke (S. Lamar Blvd.) with Cornell Hurd (the David Letterman of Country Music)

Also, Thurs. 3/16 at Jovita's (S. 1st St.) with Cornell H.

And the great non-sanctioned extravaganza South By South Austin, on Sat. 3/18 in the parking lot of the Texicalli Grille on Oltorf St, from 11am-5pm with lots of artists like Clay Blaker, The Hollisters, Bill Kirchen, Cornell Hurd, and a cast of 1000's. This has become one of the hippest gigs in town that week and its not a SXSW event, per se.

Saturday night 3/18 at Under the Sun on S. Congress.

I will have albums. Please be prepared to get a good deal and buy one!

By all means, be at the Texicalli on Saturday morning, 3/18 for Cornell Hurd's South By South Austin Extravaganza. I'll be fiddling with Cornell's band.

Also, come see Don Walser and the Pure Texas Band at Jovita's every Tuesday and Threadgill's South every Thursday. Though these are not official SXSW gigs, people come from all over the world to see our shows when they're in town for the shindig.
We'll also be at the Broken Spoke showcase on Wednesday, 3/15. We've got a terrific steel player named Scott Walls.

Steve
Modesty prevented me from proclaiming SXSA to be the hippest gig in town that week, though of course there are no real competitor's for that designation.

However, with the addition of Howard Kalish to the crew, all propriety is thrown out the proverbial window, as I am sure you can well imagine. I must agree with you that SXSA is in fact, the hippest room in town. Except of course, that since it is an outdoors gig, there is no real "room," as we currently define the word, of which to speak.
