Has Sleepy John gone Bluegrass?
We did a gig yesterday afternoon for the Virginia Country Music Association and I hired ol' Sleepy to play the bass. He showed up with a 5 string bass. The only thing I can think of is maybe he's got an urge to become a B@njo player and want's to get used to 5 strings. Even the fiddle player had 5 strings. I thought of taking one string off my Telecaster so I'd fit in more.

Hey Sleepy,
I'm glad you edited your post twice to correct the hillbilly grammar and spelling. I thought when I e-mailed you the first time you'd get it right but I see you had to make two attempts at it! Talk about just having one string left on my guitar, I see you didn't mention Kenny Dail who's steel has one string and 27 pedals. He's great on single notes but has to jump the bar around a lot for the chords! By the way, you did a great job Sunday and you earned your pay! I'll see you get the same pay next time!

Hey Sj I had a G&L bass when Leo Fender and george got together, hell must have been 15-plus years ago maybe more, also a strat styled G&L three pickup job I swapped for a Takemine custom. Which I gave to my son when I said "thats it". I gave Doc Peters my Deep bowl Ovation, and Richard Bass my Glen Cambell thinbowl balladeer. I use to get one a year from Charlie Kaman of kaman Aircraft and Ovation, Thanks to Dick Curless.I figured if I wasn't ever going to play on the Opry at least a part of me would. Doc used my Ovation with Jim Ed and Richard I think With Faron on Nashville Now, So you might say some part of me was center stage.Anyone need a 175 year old perfect shape fiddle.

This is in response to "Palpitatin' Jerry's" remark about my 1 string and 27 pedal guitar. Trying to play a triad or an interval is really hard on the hands...Aanother foot or leg for the knee levers would help a lot for the chords. Also, I'm wandering if I should add another string...would it make things easier? BTW, when did you start gettin' paid for doing this stuff?
