Dale Watson in Dublin

Post by Anne Marie O Keeffe »

Last Wednesday night ended an almost two year wait for a return visit to Ireland from Dale.We saw him twice in 1998 when he toured here. Those of you who have had the pleasure of hearing Dale and his band know what I mean those of you who haven't.....what are you waiting for?
He opened the show with two songs that I hadn't heard before but enjoyed nonetheless and immediately asked the audience to request their favourite songs which they weren't shy about doing. For the next two hours we were treated, nonstop, to the best Dale and his band had to offer.
Pity he only played one night in Ireland because I would have liked to take in a few more shows. We don't get enough of this great music over here,I don't know of one other act like this coming here in the near future.Such a shame really, I know there isn't a huge following for "real" country music here which leaves those of us who like it out in the cold.
The audience that attended Wednesday nights show knew what real country music was about. It showed in their reaction to songs like "A Real Country Song" and ""Nashville Rash". Altogether it was a terrific concert enjoyed by all present.
I'm glad to have had the chance to see the show and I hope the remainder of Dale's tour is successful.

Anne Marie:
I can sympathize with you and I live in Canada!! Never see any of Dale's kind of music up here either. Was kinda hoping he might be playing New York state in the Buffalo area this year, but according to what Ricky Davis has told me, it isn't in the works.
