VG's Tele Tone on Players...

Post by Pete Burak »

When Vince did that Lay Down Sally type of vamp at the beginning of his tune I was thinking that that was a GREAT tele tone.
Looked like he was playing through 2 Matchless amps. I know he's a great guitar player. Anybody know what his setup is?

Pete; I didn't pay attention to that but I do know that he usually plays through 2 Rivera amps with some digital delay and a little compression. That old '56 Tele and them two hands of his are about 75% of it though! I have a 53 Tele and it's wore out but there ain't nuthin like it. I play it through 2 Fender Blues DeVilles with some analog delay & it's a killer also.

On the subject of Tele tone..I just installed a Rio Grande Vintage Tallboy lead p/u on my Tele(w. a mid 60`s Gibson P-90 in the neck pos. and a strat p/u in the middle)and it`s the best Tele pick up I`ve found!(I replaced a Duncan Broadcaster with it and it`s a lot clearer AND more powerfull).Check them out,
