I heard this song on the radio this morning, and the chorus starts:

"What this country needs is a little more steel guitar."

YES! Does anyone know who does this song?

I don't know who sang it, but it should be "What this country needs is a LOT more steel guitar."

Yes, it IS AARON TIPPIN.
It is the title track from his latest CD, WHAT THIS COUNTRY NEEDS.

Tippin's got the right attitude.

Well, this won't necessary satisfy the pedalistos, but here's a thing I wrote about steel a little while ago:

Play that Dobro Slow
Bryan Dupler

Play that Dobro slow
Let it moan and wail
For a body weak and a heart grown frail
Let her sing me down
When they lay me low
'Neath that blue grass south of town
Play that Dobro slow

Play that Dobro slow
Let it moan and cry
For our old friends gone to the by and by
Brother, lay that steel
Down across those strings
And always know the song you play
Is a precious thing

Play that Dobro slow
Pick it loud and true
In my dyin' time, play it sweet and blue
Let the notes ring on
'Til they fade away
And we play these songs together
Again someday.

[Repeat first].

Copr.1999 Bryan Lester Dupler

Country artists are invited to check out my humbly appointed but ambitious new virtual publishing house, OkieTune Music, at http://www.webzone.net/suijuris/index.html.

Another of my lyrics is featured on the page, with more to come soon. I'm looking for artists who are looking for songs. Come on by. And steelers, play on!!

The song "Murder on Music Row" also mentions steel several times.
