I've heard it twice now - a song from Merle Haggard called "Motorcycle Cowboy". It's longer than most radio songs. It's live. It jams. I had to check the station to make sure I wasn't listening to public radio.
No, this was on Q-105, one of our commercial top 40 "country" stations. Great tune! Has anyone else heard it?

Yes indeed, that's a fine tune. It's on the Live at Billy Bob's Texas album. It's good (not to mention pleasantly surprising!) to hear that it's getting airplay.
(nice new picture of yerself you got there b0b!) |

That's the best news I've heard about him in a long while. I'm sure I'll skid off the road if they should add it to the play lists here.
That song has really grown on me. I’m glad to learn that radio is playing, anywhere. It’s written in a modernized Jimmy Rogers (sp?) style; even has a Blue Yodel subtitle. Is it Blue Yodel #14? You’re right about it jammin’, b0b-- great guitars and sax.
That's the only brand new song on the album, although the others have all had "facelifts” to the pleasure of steel guitar fans everywhere. Do you remember much if any steel in these songs:
Today I Started Loving You Again
I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink
Ramblin’ Fever (not counting the remake on ’94)
Hungry Eyes
Okie From Muskogee
Well, it’s there in large portions on the Billy Bob’s CD. How about a little C6th from Norm Hamlet on Ida Red. I can’t catch the words, but can’t miss the steel!!
Did I mention that I like that CD?
