I hate to do this, but I just don't have a need for two steels. This is a Derby that is about two years old. It is sea foam green glossy mica with high polished trim. This guitar has only been played at home and at church. Pictures really do not do this guitar justice. It is 8 and 5 with Jimmy Day set-up. The entire guitar was just gone over and the set-up is dialed in very nicely. This guitar has tru-tone single coils. It is truely a fantastic guitar. The mica is as glossy as any lacquer finish! I have two Derby's and this guitar plays better and sounds better than anything I have heard. And it looks like a million buck to boot! I just have other things I need to spend money on and having two Derby's just is not practical right now...so I am going to sell this one. I am asking $2800 (this guitar is about $4200 new) for this guitar with the case and you pay for the shipping and insurance. I have pics...so just let me know if you'd like to see them.
Thanks
Bill

A bump for a guitar I'd buy if I needed another and had some spare dough. I LOVE this color! Of all the steels my students play, John Hauck's exact twin of this one is one of the best sounding and playing steels I've seen. I feel it has a real Emmons p/p vibe to it, but with great action and mechanics. Someone grab this beauty before I do something rash!!!
Bill, what are the specs on the other Derby you're keeping?

The other Derby I'm keeping is a little bit older model D10 with 8 and 6 and it has tru tones in it as well. You're really right about the push pull vibe. I traded a push pull for the sea foam guitar and it has Emmons tone like crazy. But I will say this...you'll play alot of guitar before you find any that play as well as a Derby. Charlie Stepp is a fanatic about the guitars he builds and they have to be right or he will not let them out of his shop. |

Geee, After looking at that beautiful Derby, and seeing Professor Twang's, (John McClung), reply, guess I'd better polish mine up a bit before my next lesson.
John's right though all the way. The best tone ever with great mechanics. |
