I'm sure some folks don't realize it, but replies like this can actively discourage psg newbies (like me) from asking questions on this forum. Fortunately for me, there was no entrance exam to join! Sorry to divert the thread!

Charlie, don't worry about Jory's reply.
If he had taken the trouble to look at your profile, he would have realised that you are a new member. I am sure he means well

Now guys, lighten up on Jory. Sure he was out of line, but who among us hasn't shot off our mouths (or pens) and wished we hadn't.

I agree with Jim . Jory as nice a guy as they come. We all should be a little more careful about how we both read and respone to the post on this lovely gathering of the beautiful people ( those how can play a steel guitar)
AS for a Carter Starter Guitar for $500.00 I only wished I could have found something like that when i started learning pedal steel. Back then Mavericks,MSa Sidekick and Emmons Stundent guitars where all we had for around that price. And if you were lucky ,you might even find an old beat up Sho-Bud Crossover that would make you pull your hair out by the roots.

I agree, vote that b0b add a new Forum category named Sarcasm. Great idea.

I know of pedals and knee levers, but what the heck is a crank?
