It would take a Long time and very very costly for me to do a job on this one. Every single part needs cleaning and tweeking and re-working and some re-placing. I don't have enough time or patience...ha.....

This is a candidate for a Duane Marrs/Jeff Surratt/AJ Nelson job.

If it were mine, I'd have the aprons and necks refinished dark rosewood color, with the maple top. Then have the undercarriage redone to modern specs. Then realize I've got about 3 grand in this horn, but undoubtedly worth it.

I put 3 grand in one. Considering the 400$ I bought the original 8/1 for in 83, would be a grand now, and a couple K to make it a new 8/6 with a nice flight case.

Somehow I look at all the other 5-6000$ guitars out there, and they just don't communicate with me.

If you're heading for Marrs, now's the time.

The line's not getting any shorter..

WHY WERE MY REPLIES DELETED FROM THIS THREAD? When I misunderstood Jons objective and was telling him off it was here, but WHEN I APPOLOGISED for my mistake IT WAS DELETED and Rick Mcduffies comment about me having a bad day and my reply to him for being forgiveng after some of our debates was deleted too. I think this is wrong because when I admitted my mistake it was hidden. Is it because of my signature? Makes me wonder. Now I better understand why Carl Dixon chooses not to post anymore. And please don't anyone delete this except b0b if he chooses to.

Hey Jon

I would like to compliment you on your in-depth description of this old Bud. This was once a great guitar and could be again with lots of TLC from someone with the reputation of KNOWING HOW like Ricky Davis. I have only seen photos of Ricky's work but from what I see he is THE MAN for this job if he had the time. I also hope this guitar goes to someone who will appreciate it and play it. The more of these old Bud's I see it makes me kinda want one. My friend has one of these and it is an awesome sounding guitar with him playing it. Good Luck to the fine family your working hard to help.

Regards
Will Aytes
