Who's playing steel on this Jack Reno track?
I just enjoyed Jack Reno's 1972 version of "Heartaches By The Number", which may be the coolest version of that song ever recorded. Does anyone know who the great steel player is? (No results from Discogs or Praguefrank...)

Weldon or Hal I would guess. My Dad played steel with Jack in the late 60’s when he lived in Lubbock, Texas. He was a nice guy..

Hal Rugg was my first guess too. The whole album (Hitchin' a ride) is loaded with inspired steel playing.

It’s Weldon Myrick. His tamber and tone in this era is unmistakable. Hal Rugg played on one cut of the album, Arizona Clay.

That is SO Weldon. Or someone trying to sound like Weldon.
