Holding device for PSG workbench?

Post by Andy DePaule »

Getting ready to re-rod my steel and get rid of some poorly adjusted pulls.
Naturally I can't find those devices I bought for holding it upside-down and elevated enough to pick the strings.
Anybody know of some easy to make replacements for them? Would be a great help.
I'd rather make something easy from wood. Sure I've seen some good ideas on the forum, but it's been years and my memory sucks these days.
Thanks in advance.

I think you're looking for this workbench from Six Nine Design (Ross Shafer).

No, it wasn't the Six Nine model.
I don't remember who made it, but the stand screwed in where the legs go.

Here's one of my pedal steel guitar holders that I thunk up back in the seventies , I've been using em for years there nice and cheap and yeah you can pluck the strings upside down on the fly (this one is for single neck or SD)

Here is a picture of a steel cradle I built when I had 2 S10's and 2 D10s, So it is adjustable.
DSC00854.JPG
It is made out of 3/4" Birch plywood and 3/4" X 1 1/2" finish strips.
Just the side pieces using 3/4" X 3" or 4" flat strips with 6" X 6" support blocks. Could be made and attached to portable work benches with C Clamps or bolts would make the cradle. Adjustable By the bench itself.
It has removable felt pads, Kept in zip lock bag. To protect guitar finish.

Re: Found the old ones....

Post by Andy DePaule »

Just when I'd decided a good way to make a stand using some L shaped aluminum and 1/2" plywood that I already had I found the ones I bought back seven years ago.
Of all the places I looked it turned out they were in one of my two steel guitar parts drawers.
Why didn't I look there first? Low IQ I guess. Found them while looking for something else.
Thanks for all the help guys.
