Anyone have the audio for the Jerry Byrd course?

Post by Howard Rappaport »

Hi all,

I've owned the binder-bound JB Instruction Course for Steel Guitar for over 20yrs. It came with VHS and cassette tapes (why didn't I get the CD version?! Was there a CD version at the time?), and as I no longer own a cassette deck, I'm wondering if anyone's got a digital version.

Also, on youtube there was a transfer of the accompanying VHS tape, and I had it open in a tab that I closed accidentally–for the life of me I can't find it again...can anyone help me out with this, too?

Much mahalo in advance!

I had the cds years ago, I bought a second copy of the course with the cassette tapes. I would suggest getting a tape player that converts tape to digital, so you can put the recordings on your computer

I have CDs that Bruce Clarke (Cumquat Records) cleaned up from JB’s cassettes …

I tried to copy them for you … but they were all distorted … all I can figure is he used those paper CD labels and I heard the adhesive on them can corrupt the data ???

Anyway … they aren’t usable as is .. sorry

Hello Howard. You're in luck: I found the audio CD's as well as the CD containing the pdf's of the course. PM me with your information and I'll dupe them for you.

Aloha Howard,

I'd recommend contacting Michael Scott at Scotty's Music. He owns the copyrights to all the Jerry Byrd Instructional Material. All of which is still available for sale.

The guy (Eddie Slide) on YouTube that uploaded Jerry's Instructional Video to YouTube, did it without the permission of Michael Scott, the copyright holder, so it was taken down.

If you need any of your Jerry Byrd instructional material replaced, I highly recommend doing it the right way and going to Michael Scott. His Dad, Scotty, put a lifetime of work and effort to create that body of work for the rest of us, so it's only right that he be compensated appropriately.

Michael Scott is still carrying Scotty's and Jerry's torch and keeping their work alive and available.
