Re: Guitar on " Six days on the road"
Tommy,I remember this same question came up several years ago. I searched this,as I remembered forum member Richard Bass commented on this very subject. Richard stated that he played lead guitar for Dave Dudley from '67-'71 and was the lead player on "Six Days on the Road." I only saw this one post, but I remember other posts Richard made about the unique sound of the instruments on this recording. There were several cuts of this song, but the cut Richard referred to is my favorite cut because of that unique sound.Hope this helps.

Dave recorded Six Days On The Road more than once. The guitar player on the original version (1963) with that popping sound was Jimmy Colvard.
Here's the thread where Richard talks about using that lick on a different song, later on - viewtopic.php?t=75413
