Ray Alan, Suncoast pedal steel legs

Post by Doug Earnest »

RIP Ray Alan, Suncoast steel guitar leg and accessories manufacturer of many years. Ray was a friend to the steel community and was a fixture at many steel shows for years. He was original equipment leg supplier to several companies and also provided aftermarket sales.

Ray passed away in late December 2023 as the result of a fall at his home in Tennessee.

If you personally know Ray and his wife Amena she could sure use some help trying to settle all the affairs. She is a US citizen but a native of the orient and is not familiar with the way of these things in the US. She understands English well and speaks it fairly well. If you know how to contact her please do so.

Ray was a long time member of the North Tennessee Steel Guitar Association. An honest man gone on to his reward.

RIP, Ray. Several years ago I picked up a steel-guitar-leg order for a friend to save some shipping costs. I had a very nice visit with Ray. Good memories.

I became friendly with Ray at the Dallas shows and bought legs & sockets from him......we had some great conversations about business and importing as I imported goods when I was in the manufacturing business (hats)......he was always very enthusiastic......also, and I was very surprised when I first saw this,.....he was a darn good vocalist.....I had no idea......

RIP Ray.....

I got legs for my D10 P/P from Ray in Dallas shortly after Duane passed. Both were good guys.

Sorry to hear of Ray's passing, he was a lovely man and I use his lightweight legs for my flying rig!! I've also purchased standard legs from him on occasions for projects I have worked on - he was always top notch to deal with.
Very sad news

Does anyone know if there was any inventory left. I had intended to buy 4 new legs for one of my Push Pull guitars at the Dallas show and was sad to hear that he had passed. Can anyone provide a phone #. Thanks, George Sypert

Ray shared a booth at TSGA with the late Billy Robinson. I spent manhy an hour in their booth listening to stories and talking '50s country music. Ray also had a wonderful singing voice. He would team up with Billy on Billy's sets. So sorry to hear of his passing
