I know this doesn't sound like me but it really is.
I can't explain my choice of songs these days or why I'm playing like this. I just feel like it I guess.
I remember when I used to go to eat with my dad at dinners in New York when I was a teenager. He never did like my jukebox selections.
Rich, I've loved that tune since my mom brought back her 1966 souvenir record from the Oceanic cruise ship band, The Ernesto Mancini Quartet, that featured it - along with Beatles songs sung in thick Italian accents. Your version is very enjoyable and musical.
Very nice Rich, I enjoyed listening to it! Bossa Nova, especially with a non pedal steel, is one of my favorite styles of music. I play in alot of jazz duets, me on guitar, a horn and a Beat Buddy drum machine. Have you (or anybody else out there) experimented with a Beat Buddy? It's great for live use. Again, great job Rich, hope to hear more of it!

Thanks Andy.
I used to poke around a lot picking up old records for $2 at thrift stores. That's when I discovered the whole Exotica genre. Fun!
I love steel guitar in any non-country settings. I like it in country, too, but IMO it's been pigeon-holed as a 'country' instrument, which it isn't.
I hear you! That "pigeon-holeing" thing is even worse for the dobro. People associate the dobro with Bluegrass and Amaracana.
I think the lap steel enthusiasts are a lot more open minded.

Thanks Carey. I'm glad you enjoy this.
No, I haven't worked with a drum machine since the late 1970s.

Thanks Doug.
I think your M.O. has rubbed off on me just a little bit in so far as the choice of tunes I'm playing these days. Tunes with distinct melodies kept relitively simple. I'm not trying to play like you on purpose. Maybe it was always where I was bound to end up all along. Like when you have a long complacated conversation that boils down to one simple idea. I don't know.
