Seminar this Saturday(JayDee) and Sunday(Greg Leisz)
Some have you have heard about this and we're now confirming a monster weekend for the steel guitar community.
On Saturday- August 24th steel guitar legend JayDee Maness (Desert Rose Band, Eric Clapton and hundreds more) will be presenting a seminar for the pedal steel guitar community focusing on the use of chromatic strings and the 9th string for the 10 string E9th tuning.
On Sunday- August 25th steel guitar legend Greg Leisz (Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton and hundreds more) will be presenting a seminar for the lap steel guitar community focusing on the use of tunings, techniques, and applications for the 6 string steel guitar community.
The format for the seminars will be the same- no instruments to be brought in due to space considerations and there will be chairs provided. The seminar will be recorded and provided to the participants after the fact. Lunch (pizza, sodas, and water) will be provided and the hours will be from 10AM-4PM. The fee is $40
If you are interested please respond to stlgitr@gmail.com and, again due to limited space, only the first 40 respondents will be able to attend. No checks or credit cards- cash only.
I put out an email to previous customers that I had email addresses for using a zip code search from Los Angeles to San Diego and currently each class has only 3 openings left. I hope to be able to make them available (God willing and everything going according to plan) after the seminars on a small fee basis. If you live nearby and would like to have one of the remaining 3 seats or if you would like to be put on a list to have access to the recording please contact me at the above email address.

Thanks to all who attended this magical seminar. It was very informative from both Jay Dee and Greg. There is such a dearth of information about lap steel tunings and their uses and Greg is such a wealth of information having played in tons of different tunings with so many different artists his seminar was like giving water to a thirsty man(or woman). Jay Dee's information regarding the uses of the chromatic strings and how to use them was, as always, received with open arms from the participants. With just a little luck the videos from these 2 days should be available for a modest fee in the upcoming weeks. If you're interested please let me know and I'll put you on the list of those who wanted to attend but just couldn't.

I've got a bit of a conundrum- as the videos are getting finished there are a few songs taken from YouTube aired while JayDee and Greg are talking about them and are important parts of the videos and I've been thinking that I'd use a private YouTube channel to distribute them but am expecting some flack from YouTube about them. There are several options- simply add a link to YouTube when they are being shown on the video, send a Dropbox link those those wanting them, use a program called "we transfer" to send them or ???
Each day is in 3 parts- between 3-6 gigs each. Suggestions are welcome regarding how to distribute.

I'd suggest doing whichever is easiest for you. Adding the links to the video or simply putting them in the comment should be good enough, no?

I also suggest using some service to share the files directly: Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. Rather than relying on Youtube or a streaming service. This way folks that purchase it actually own a copy.

I have also found We Transfer useful, but just a caveat that they are in the process of being acquired so that may alter themtulbert wrote:Jim
I use We Transfer all the time and the program works great. Suggest you check it out.
