Songs 100% written and produced by AI
This song was written and produced 100% by AI. No vocalists. No musicians. No songwriter. No studio.
https://youtu.be/iP6VTHSJ4is?si=rXNl7PZqwQc2-WII
It was created by the app called Udio. Cost is $30/month. Just enter 10 or 15 descriptive words about the song you want, and AI creates it.
Granted it is steak-in-a-can, but the quality will undoubtably improve quickly in the coming years - if not in the coming months.
This video by Rick Beato is a good discourse on the topic...

I'm more and more thankful that I grew up in the 60's and 70's.

It is scary for sure.
I can see AI being the 3rd Satan in the world.
#1: The real Satan
#2: Social Media
#3: AI
You know just like #1 and #2, it will be used to turn people against each other.
That's all I have to say

It's pretty awful, but then so is a lot of rubbish supposedly generated by humans.
The favourable comments are from people who should have their licence to listen to music revoked.

The quality of the video is not good, but how many singers and songs have used auto tune
? Isn't that a basic form or at least precursor of AI? I find the techno-buzz distasteful and disgraceful. How many tracks are already cut using electronics instead of real musicians? Many consumers don't seem to know the difference, or care. The technology is bound to improve. If it develops further, especially to the point that AI music is practically indistinguishable from the real thing, will it becomes downloadable for profit? Sadly, I can foresee people buying AI produced music.

One of the fears I think around AI, is the idea that anyone can "write music" with AI. Give it some commands, pick a style, and voila, you've written a song. I've been giving this a bit of thought lately and it occurred to me, this is similar to when photography came in. Suddenly, anyone could be an artist, anyone could paint a portrait. Just point and shoot. When Photoshop came around, it robbed technicians in the dark room of the marketable skill they possessed, when anyone could do darkroom tricks and better right on their computer, iteration after iteration in a way that would be impossible in a non-digital world.
whole industries, trades, skills, and a lifetime of learning went out the window when printing went digital. In any disruptive moment, there will be losses, losers, but also winners, people who recognize that any time of change opens up brand new opportunities in fields unimaginable now.
I can see a time in the not so distant future where people will program their listening experience with endlessly generated new music. Give me a beethovan feel with some bonnie raitt like vocals and throw some cannons in there. And make if 45 minutes. And then sit back and listen to his creation while he/she goes about their day. A mix tape of all original music "Written" by you.

Cash rewrote that earlier song, adding a few different words. When it made a hit, his thievery was discovered, and he had to pay the real writer a hundred grand to get the right to call it his song.
I think it would be interesting to see if AI songs are all created individually, or if it remembers its own research and creations. Let's say you tell AI to create a song and give it a LOT of parameters, say 15-20. If someone else creates a song using the exact same parameters in the exact same order, how similar would the two songs be?

The smart AI music creator will find a way to create ssomething that isn't a dead copy of something else and then be able to claim it as an original song. In fact, it ought to make it easier to create original songs by shortening the process to create a bunch of songs. Then a human can take the time to tweak and/or combine things so they don't fall into the trap of making a dead copy of some other well-known song that they just don't know. My bet is that AI-generated algorithms will also be able to do more effective searches to make sure songs created do not accidentally cross the boundary into plagiarism.
I really think most popular music is largely derivative anyway. There is very little out there that is truly original, IMO. I think modern copyright enforcement has gotten pretty ridiculous. Again IMO - it's a way for large publishers to basically make it difficult to impossible for independents to compete in the publishing world.

Do we really need this?
Hey all! IMHO... and from a steel player's perspective, no vocal vibrato, no sustain(as in volume pedal), no "feel", no saturation(reverb), no real emotion. Too many NO's! Are the good times really over for good! RK

A banjo, like a pet monkey, seems like a good idea at first.
