Cashdollar Instrumental 7.31.10.mov

Post by Bruce Roger »

Does anyone know the name of this tune? Or is it just a common swing riff employed in a 12 bar blues? It starts with the same arpeggio as Monk's Rhythm-A-Ning, albeit rhythmically different.

Yes, Twin Guitar Special. Link to the original, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys circa 1941, Leon McAuliffe on steel:

Studio version by Cindy from her excellent 2004 album Slide Show, with Herb Remington:

Good stuff! That’s the floor stage at Gruene Hall in Gruene TX. Cindy, Erik Hokkenan on guitar and fiddle, Kevin Smith on upright bass, Tom Lewis drums, and the late Gary Claxton on vocals, acoustic guitar.
