Life Of Brian lost its funding with the last second withdrawal of support by cold-footed money people just before shooting was to start. Possibly the death of the project. George hocked his house and raised the $$ to produce it.
I love this story. I always saw George a different way after this. |

That was me: I did all Neil Innes' stuff during those years.
In any case, it's unmistakably by cliche-ridden library of licks. I actually think the tone is quite good (my old ZB) even if the execution is somewhat wanting.
At the end of the 'Elton' clip, that's the band (Fatso) doing the barber-shop thing. I'm the largest one...
The other miscreants are Brian Hodgson (bass), Billy Bremner (gtr) and 'Admiral' John Halsey (drums).

Re; George's song.
Throughout the episode (30'), George would keep appearing dressed as a pirate. Eric Idle would keep imploring him to be 'George' until, finally and as the show's closer, we launch into 'My Sweet Lord', GH descends the steps in normal clothes and we're all supposed to look 'shocked-and-stunned' as he veers off course and we get 'The Pirate Song'.
We did play a few verses of MSL during rehearsal; it's a shame that no longer exists.
