Sting hold downs are 6-32 and keys are 6-40 (most of the time)

As I recall, the hex wrench that fits a #6 socket head machine screw is 7/64. I owned a couple keyless Sierra Crowns with the brass tuners and that is the size hex wrench I fixed into the other end of my regular 3/16 tuning wrench to tighten the hold down screws. Matter of fact, I still have it and use it for other things.

You can see the hole there for pulling strings tight...the hex end with the white cover is just to keep from scratching guitars that had neck end split screws which used the same wrench.

Michael Yahl offers these types of tuners at his online store @ www.psgparts.com. [Edit: I just tried to access his site and got a security warning. Sad ]

I was thinking those brass tuners on my Sierras were 6-32 but I defer to Jim. I was able to replace just the threaded part of a longer screw into the brass nut for the #3 string.

Of course with your plastic finger tuners, you can't do that.

There is a source on Amazon for those type of finger knobs but most of them I see are metric.

On second look at amazon I do find SAE thumb screws with a knurled 3/16 knob up to 1 1/2 inches long but don't know if they're fully threaded past 1 inch.

Didn't see and 6-40...these are 6-32 thread, so if in fact the thread requirement is 6-40 obviously these won't work.
