I normally use Audacity to change tempo, but lately the result hasnt sounded all that good. I was wondering what you guys recommend to do this...specifically I have a mp3 backing track that I like, but it is too fast for me and would like to slow it down without changing the pitch.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Larry,

Many DAW or transcription software packages offer tempo change although many rely on the same product. Cubase, Ableton Live, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Reaper and Band-in-a-Box license élastique Pro V3 which is developed by Zplane Development of Germany.

Zplane also offers élastique Pro as a standalone product: https://products.zplane.de/products/elastiquepitch/

I use Amazing Slow Downer, not free, but works great for me. Let's me set start and stop points to learn licks.
