Topic: Gibson EH = "Electric Hawaiian"? |

I just learned that Gibson ES (e.g. ES-175) stands for "Electric Spanish" guitar.
So I'm assuming the Gibson EH (e.g EH-185) stands for "Electric Hawaiian"?
I might be the last one here to have this epiphany (that is, if my epiphany is correct).

Yes - ES stands for Electric Spanish, and EH stands for Electric Hawaiian. EB is Electric Bass, EM is Electric Mandolin, EMS is Doubleneck Electric Mandolin/Guitar, ETG is Electric Tenor Guitar. And so on. There's even ETB for Electric Tenor Banjo.

In a serendipitous moment a couple of years ago, I found myself in the house of a couple that had an electric 5 string. It had been in a closet for years but I was able to tune it up. He didn't have an all, but I did get to play around on it for a few minutes.
They're different... |
