Yeah, but the song really wants a pedal steel. I used to try this kind of thing on a Telecaster when I was with a Patsy Cline tribute band, and thought I was pretty good at it. When I heard the recordings, I started weaning myself off the technique. Finally got a pedal steel, long after having left the band.

But enough about Tom Jones; let’s talk about me 😎
He sounds great singing this song, and the band did a good job with it.
