Spoke with Smiley Roberts a short while ago, and he told me that he'd just heard that Ron Gaddis had passed away. I haven't seen anything on the web yet.

If true, it's a sad day indeed. He was such a great side man, easily blending with George Jones and a great bass player.

He could read George like a book on his harmonies. R.I.P.

Man am I sorry to read of Ron's passing. He was a great guy, great bass-player and certainly was George's right hand man on their shows for all those years.

We did many shows with George and The Jones Boys in the late 70s and through the 80s. All of us in The Farewell Party Band became great friends with Ron and all the guys. It was like a brotherhood for sure.

There were a number of memorable shows,,, one long tour with Gene and George went across Canada into Nova Scotia continuing into Maine. The trip across the Bay of Fundy on the Blue Nose Ferry coming from Nova Scotia to Maine was memorable to say the least..!! We had some fun plane rides to Europe too... ha ha..!! I have many photos from those tours that I cherish.

I have a lot fond memories of Ron and those shows. I'm sad to hear he has left us. He was a great musician, singer and friend. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out for all his family and friends.

Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson

I hate to hear that about Ron Gaddis. I caught Jones' mid-80s Austin City Limits episode last year and was just blown away by what a phenomenal sideman he was.

I hate to hear this, I loved to watch Ron and George work together, they were brilliant. I just googled Ron’s name a couple weeks ago to see what he was up to.
