Finally got round to reading this!

Interesting that on some guitars it affects the sound. Even more interesting is how guitar technique has changed so that a cover is often a nuisance.

Ian, before I knew of the term I used it for an ashtray. it was a early seventies eggshell Tele. To bad I still have this smoking habit.
