I’m thinking real hard about buying a new D-10, but I’m wondering what I should expect to pay for a Franklin. I’ve seen the prices for Emmons P/P guitars. Are Franklin guitars generally more? Hope I’m posting in the right section.

Thanks

Dan

Franklins are rare and hard to come by. $10-12K for a D10.

Dan: Not that it matters but I'm just curious.

How long have you been playing?

All in all I have been playing about 20 or so years. My first was a Shobud 3x1 that I still own, played a Sierra 5x4 for a very longtime that I got off of this site and eventually sold. Then around 6-7 years ago I got an MSA Classic D-10 8x4. I've been thinking about getting a new ax that will have good resale value and be able to keep my other two guitars. Admittedly, I haven't kept up with the prices that guitars are going for these days and have been kind of shocked recently in what I am finding. You get what you pay for I suppose. lol Very Happy

And you SHOULD BE Shocked. They are WAY over-priced these days everywhere and it's very simple momentum in why/how that happens. Long story short:
We are ONLY seeing the prices a seller puts up and as those go up; the next goes up and up..and sellers are seeing and comparing the prices they are seeing and thinking "That's what they are going for" But NO; INCORRECT....> we never see how much something actually sells for; except the buyer and seller; and they never post that...So we ONLY see eventual price that folks are asking and yes now they have gotten outrageously WAAAAY over the Worth/Price of what the guitar is; how it's set up; what work it needs and when a picture is seriously "PHOTO-SHOPPED" to look like its from freakin outterspace in some lala land over shinned from another planet....is just insane. Guess who actually gets all these freakishly priced steels in the shop to Fix/Setup/change/...etc....yes MEEEEEEE; so I actually know the condition and what they really look like that the buyer does not present with their overpriced/photoshopped ads.
Well; I fix them and send them back to new owner; but then it ends up being double-priced of what it should of been priced in the first place.
Ricky

I recently sold a very clean D-10 Franklin for $12,000.00. I also recently sold an SD-10 Franklin for $8,500.00. They are fetching that kind of money. I still have one D-10 Franklin that I do not ever plan on selling. They are incredible guitars!

That being said, I also have a Zum Hybrid that is my very favorite guitar that I have ever owned, and a standard mid 80's Zum that is also a really great guitar! Sums are also fetching top dollar now days, and rightfully so. They are great guitars!

I also recently acquired a mid 80's Emmons LeGrande and an Emmons LeGrande III that are also great guitars and can be purchased for the $3k-$4k range.

All of this to say that there are a lot of great guitars out there in all price ranges.
