Hey just a shout out to Jim Cohen. We just finished up a weeks worth of inventory in the shop. In that inventory with everything else there was a pile of cd's and one of them was Jim Cohen's "Cohen Goin Country" He seams to have selected some old time country standards, Which are great by them self's....and i was pleasantly surprised when he introduced some really nice jazzy overtones to the music while still keeping the country feel (roots) to the music. It gave these old crying in your beer tunes a refreshing twist. So if you like something a little off traditional country, I suggest you take a listen to this.
Thanks
Wayne Brown

I have several of Jim's CDs.

Being honest now, I confess to not having listened to them until recently (now I have nothing but time!! Sad ) and I have been amazed at how good he is. He's arranged songs in a unique way (I particularly like his album of '60s pop hits) and his intonation, execution and musicality are exceptional.

I've been trying to grab some of his C6 licks from his jazz album: my right-hand isn't quite up to it!

These are some of the most refreshing steel albums you'll hear.

I have all of Jim's CD's and love listening to them all. No matter what style he's playing he always sounds great, killer tone and intonation, all those things I'm still searching for. Rick Schmidt and I think so much of Jim we named a minor chord position after him, now it's the Cohen minor. His 2m 5 1 video for C6 is really well done, and definitely worth watching. Steve" Catt "

That’s funny… Rick and I were Skyping the other day and he accused me of using the “Cohen Minor”… but I forget how I got it or what it was

I first met Jim at the festival in Ireland around 2002 and was immediately impressed by His playing. We chatted for some time and lnstantly became friends due to His extremely friendly demeanour. I saw Jim often at the Dallas show over the next few years and was always astounded by his set choice, It was always different and refreshing, none of the "same old same old".
Best regards
Billy

I'm going to see Jim in a couple of weeks, he's on tour with the Ronstadt show about an hr from the house.

I've already warned him, we are in the 3rd row in front of him. Smile

Hey Guys,

I just came across this thread. Thank you all for your really nice comments! So glad to hear you're enjoying my recordings.

As for the "Cohen minor", well... I'm not sure whether to take it as a compliment to have a chord formation named after me. It probably just means that I overuse it to death and ought to knock it off! LOL!

And, Tony, I'm looking forward to meeting you in a few weeks in Shelby, NC. I hope your unfortunate dog bite won't keep you away - Yikes! We have a new agent starting this week and I think he's got big plans for us, so hopefully I'll get around to catching up with most of you guys while on tour with the Ronstadt Revue. Maybe even Glasgow, Billy! Give my best regards to Ann.

Once again, many thanks to you all for your nice words.

Hey Roger, we're gonna try. We just came back from playing Newberry, SC and I noticed it's not too far from Atlanta. Pretty sure they want us back so maybe we can do something in Atlanta on the same tour. What are some of the best venues (500-1500 seats) for tribute acts in the Atlanta area?
Best,
Jimbeaux

Sadly I missed Jims show in NC, we had a mild family emergency the day of the show. All is well except I have two 3rd row tickets for last week ! LOL

Could have been worse, I'll catch Jim around the region soon I hope.
