I found this photo and link on the internet….I gotta find this album! Does any have a copy or files they could share? It’s a Canadian release. Thanks.

Someone sent me the audio of this album a few years ago (I no longer have it), and what stood out to me was the constant "amp tremolo" on his steel throughout the songs. The album was recorded in the early 1960s and the new tremolo effect was all the rage, evidently. Hearing that rapid tremolo on every song detracted from the recording IMO. In general, not a great record, but he did play in tune and he played mostly melody.

Champ played with Smilin' Ivan Dorey: https://nscmhf.ca/inductees/2000ivandorey.html

I read somewhere that Ivan Dorey had three steel players during his career, so this Might be Champ on this recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUM4z5qxxhw

Ha! Yeah that’s a dealbreaker for me. I’m no longer interested in having the record, but still interested in hearing the player.

A friend found this on YouTube…it has the tremelo effect.

Me too, Kevin, but not on 10 songs in a row, all the way through the songs. Smile

Dave, that's it! Another early 60s recording of Champ using his new toy... onboard tremolo!
