I have found that having my few effects on the floor is quite awkward and noticed in the pics from the Dallas show that Johnny Cox had what looked to be an effects carrying case with legs that put it at about the right height next to his steel seat.
These were made at one time by Joe Naylor but Joe tells me he is retired.
Is anyone else making these? I'm not too excited about building my own.

You might be able to get Scott McCumber of Grune road cases to build it. He also makes a nice steel seat. He's a player and forum member.

I take the suitcase that holds gear and turn it on its side...perfect height and solidly holds all the FX....

+1 for putting a pedalboard on a keyboard chair but I've been thinking about using a percussion table stand like this Gibraltar Sidekick or the Meinl table. Would also need a gig bag to store it in with effects.

I use Gordon's method with the folding keyboard seat. Light and cheap and folds up to a small footprint.

I've got a good sized pelican case that holds my effects and a few other goodies that don't fit in my pack-a-seat. Roll it in, take out effects/goodies, turn it on it's side next to me makes it just the right height. Job done.

Steel Seat Co (Ed Naylor) used to build a case/stand for effects. I didn't see Johnny's setup but that could be a possibility.

When I was recently on this search, I ended up with this from Amazon. It folds up flat and the way the legs are a U makes it easy to maneuver around.

I don't have a large pedalboard, though, just the HX Effects and usually put a few other things on it as well.

thanks all, I have been using the keyboard seat route as well. The product Steel Seat Co used to make looks a little more efficient but he's now retired so that is not an option.
I guess getting a Pedal Train board and rigging that up and putting that on the keyboard seat is an option but I'll need to find a smaller distortion unit. I've been using a Duncan twin tube model but it takes up a lot of room and needs its own 110 power source.

You could probably take a standard pakaseat that has removable interior partitions like some Walker seats, maybe others, and modify it with foam, velcro and a platform to work with a pedal board.
