| Yup; for lap steel. Depending on the note that I'm tuning to, and the sound characteristics that I'm hoping to achieve, all of those gauges of wound strings could possibly come into play. With a few exceptions, depending on the instrument(s), I purchase strings by the gauge, not by the set. |

I use all those in slide guitar and nonpedal steel sets a lot. But not pedal steel.
Like Jack, I buy bulk strings (12 per single-gauge pack) for those applications. |

Same here - lap/console steel only.
I do a lot of guitar tech work (used to take care of a lot of Fenders, but I had to discontinue steel work - too physically demanding) - so I also buy mostly gages in bulk.
