Steve is a multi-instrumentalist, and he plays several different instruments, including acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, lap steel guitar, pedal steel guitar, dobro, and drums. There's a video I saw where he talks about how he learned to play lap steel-his dad, Roy Wariner played in country bands, and as a kid, Steve would play on his dad's lap steel guitars. He has many guitars, including the Fender bass guitar he played while he toured with Dottie West as the bass guitarist in her band for three years. He's got a Rickenbacker lap steel guitar, a dobro, an Emmons push-pull pedal steel guitar, and a Sho-Bud pedal steel guitar. When Steve plays shows, Allyn Love is the steel guitarist in his band, playing an Emmons and a dobro. He taught himself how to play all these instruments.
