Where can I find a 10-32 national COARSE thread cutting die?
All I've been able to find are 10-32 FINE thread cutting dies. |

10-24 is a UNC SAE coarse thread die. 10-32 is fine thread. 10-24 is a common coarse thread size and should not be hard to find.
Dimensions are screw size, #10 in this case and either 24 or 32 threads per in [TPI]. depending on pitch.
JIC you don't know, if you're cutting new threads on a blank, you will need an adjustable thread cutting die and not a thread chaser or re-threader. |

Of course. Don't know what you're working on, but several components on a pedal steel use 10-32 fine threads, such as most pedal rods, connectors etc.

From your previous post on shortening your pedal rods. Take 1 of the pedal rods with you, So you can get a proper fitting die.
If you have an Ace Hardware in your town or a NAPA store they should have a 10-32 die. |

I took a nut from the pedal rod to ACE hardware and they said it was 10-32 NF. But the depth of thread was too fine.
It is a pedal rod to an MSA "The Universal". |

The most of the pedal rods have rolled threads on the from MSA. The rods are smaller than a normal rod used to thread to 10/32 so the threads will be thin on the rod if you try to thread the factory rod. |

I’ve rethreaded pedal rods using an adjustable 10-32 thread die. It seems like I had to go a bit deeper but I don’t remember exactly. Jimmies right , they are a rolled thread but this will work.

I found and purchased this. It was about $8.00 and works great! I bought it through Amazon. Delivered the next day.
Do a search for:
Drill America #10-32 1"OD High Speed Steel Round Adjustable Die, DWT Series
It was indeed NF.

Here's a follow up to the above:
The pedal rod is 3/16" on this MSA "The Universal".
I was able to thread 7 pedal rods.
On the 8th rod that I attempted to thread,
the die would no longer cut.
So I had to order a new one.
If you're going to thread these rods that are stainless,
I would suggest buying 2 dies in this size.
It's still a bargain.
