Hi steelers,
Has any bought/uses /or owns a framework laptop. What are your thoughts on them.I am attracted to them because of their serviablity and interchangeable design. In saying that I know next to nothing about computers.I would like get some feed back ,good ,bad and the ugly.
Thanks,Sam.

At $1,045 US for the base computer it's too rich for me. For that you get 12th generation I5 processor, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 256 GB of storage. I'd much rather spend $400 - $500 and get an off the shelf store spec Dell laptop.

Sam,

Since you are asking about Framework laptops, I thought you might find this article an interesting read. The article talks about a reusable prototype laptop Dell is demonstrating. Of course the prototype is not real but it gives you an idea that the "big boys" like Framework's idea. Framework is mentioned several times in the article.

Sam, I just got a Framework and am very happy with it. I had a Dell XPS 13 for years and looked at the new ones, but the huge advantage of the Framework is the very high degree of end user fix-ability, upgrading and customization. It's a mature product and no longer experimental, you can swap out any part. It performs comparably to the Dell. I'm running stock Win11Pro, lots of users like other operating systems but I was mostly looking to avoid planned hardware obsolescence.
