Well, I've just added another Bigsby Palm Pedal equipped guitar to the "Herd"... This makes eight ( of 'em..... I got my first one around '71 or '72 when I was still in SoCal which went on a Gibson Trini Lopez thin archtop (see picture). I don't have the "Trini" anymore but now I have the BPP installed on:
old Gibson Les Paul
Gibson SG
Epiphone Les Paul (cherry sunburst)
Epiphone Les Paul (silver sparkle finish)
Epiphone Sheraton (gold BPP)
Epiphone Riviera P-93 (Gold BPP)
Epiphone Casino
And last but not least my latest addition. It's an Ibanez AS-83 thin archtop from the "Artcore" series. It along with any of the above guitars with four knobs has been rewired with only the top volume and tone controls working as masters. The bottom two knobs are still on the guitar(s) but attached to pull pots activating a phase switch in front and a coil tap in back.... Here's some shots of the old Trini, the latest Ibanez, and some shots of the other BPPs in the collection.. Anyone else out there a fan of the Bigsby Palm Pedal? I love 'em and always will...........JH in Va.

Nice collection, Jerry! I had one mounted on a Gibson SG for many years and it was great.
Now I have one Fender Nashville tele with factory Parsons B Bender, a tele Classic Vibe with B/G Hipshot and a Fender Nashville tele with a B&W G/B bender. All nice guitars and each bender has its own area of excellence and suckage.

A lot of schweet guitars here, Jerry! Until now, I thought the Trini Lopez model only looked like this..
..but apparently there was another variation that you had.

Yep Barry, there were two models of the Trini Lopez. Mine was the more popular of the two. I've only seen one of the thick body models. The body on those was similar to the Barney Kessel model Gibson and was totally hollow while mine had the solid block inside running the length of the guitar. When I was at the old Foothill Club in SoCal I played my Trini (as did the Forum's Jim Bob Sedgwick). One of our "frontmen" the late Cliff Crofford had the thick body model which had been given to him by LA producer Snuff Garrett.... The only other picker in the LA country scene who played a Trini was a player named Roy DeSimone who went by "Roy Dee".. His was red like mine but he never had a palm pedal. I just got an all maple Gibson SG with a maple neck and fretboard and I hope to have a deal soon for the BPP solid body version which will go on this guitar. Here's a shot or two of the maple SG........JH in Va.

Hey Mike, I don't have the Clapton Strat anymore. I traded it for the maple SG. Here's another one (a hardtail) waiting for you the next time you come up. The nasty old top volume knob has been removed since these pix were taken though!...JH in Va.

| Has anyone ever put the two Bigsby Palm levers on the first and second string instead of the second and third strings? I'm getting ready to mount the two levers on the first and second strings of my dobro. I was minus a lever, so I'm in the process of making one. I found some aluminum in my "catch all" box that is the right thickness, length, and width. I also inlayed two inserts of graphite in my dobro bridge to help ease the tension from the first and second strings. I may have to do the same at the nut. We'll see. |

I tried a Bigsby Palm Pedal on one of my Dobro's. I found it difficult to use, this was about the time that Jerry Douglas made his appearance on the national stage. I decided after hearing him that I didn't need a BPP.  |
