Long time lurker here. For decades, my lap steel (Gibson Royaltone) was more or less a curiosity for me and I kept to tuned to things ling Open G, EBEEBE, etc., for rock and blues slide work. I'm not a gigging musician, but hobbyist.

I bought a Fender Deluxe 8 console during the pandemic and now really want to get into C6 or A6, Western Swing, etc. But, I waited so long, Jerry Byrd is gone, Scottys is closed, and so is the opportunity to buy Jerry Byrd's course.

Did anyone pick up the mantel to continue to sell the course? Is there an equivalent? I have reminders set on Reverb and eBay if ti every becomes available, but I figure I'm in for a long wait.

Try Doug Beaumier’s books. Simple to read tabs and come with backing tracks.
You can’t go wrong.

Thank you, I debated his offerings before. I think I practiced with Silent Night on his blog a couple of years ago.

Herb Remington also made a couple of DVDs on A6. Although Herb has also left us, these DVDs are still available from texasmusicsupply.com.

I think all of Jerry’s materials are still available from Michael Scott, I bought some from him in August of 2021.
His email is:scotty@scottysmusic.com

I was going to say the same thing as Cartwright. I purchased the course directly from Michael Scott this past spring. Send an email and (if he is still in business), he'll send a list of Byrd things he has available.

I purchased the Jerry Byrd course in January from Scotty's. The website was still up at that time. The big book course is great. I'm a big fan , I learned a lot.

I remember the website being up earlier this year. But it's not now, it just throws a "Too Many Requests" error. Since it's mostly a mail-order business, I still reached out a couple of ways, but no luck. All emails came back as "Message Not Delivered: Timed Out". From my experiences, it's not unusual for small businesses to forget to pay a web hosting bill, or to have their site on a server they no longer have access to, so maybe Michael will reappear.

But this thread has resulted in some good resources for me, including offers for the course itself, so I'm glad I posted it.
