Back in May I picked up 1973ish Fender Champ Lap Steel husk so I could have a 6 string C6 guitar to play with at my condo. I ended up getting the husk, the original metal control plate/bridge and the original pickup (5.93K) for it. I had a new Kluson 6 string tuner pan & tuners and an original Fender 6 string nut on hand (bought for a project that I changed to an 8 string model) so it was fairly complete.

Today I started putting it together. I had a new set of Fender Tele knobs #0992056000 and and two Fender CTS 256K sold shaft pots 0990831000 on hand as well so those parts went on the control plate with no issues.

The Fender wiring diagram shows the Vol knob closest to the nut. Has anyone moved it to tone control location nearest the bridge? Which position is it easiest to get to?

I know I can just swap it back if I don't like it in the OEM position but I thought I'd ask here and see what your thoughts are.

Thanks!

If that's how you want it, there's no real reason not to. I would leave the wires a tad on the long side, so you can just unscrew the pots and flip 'em back around if you decide you don't like 'em reversed.

Well, after playing my Champ for a while now I like the stock position of the volume knob. Case closed. Thanks!
