Dave, at the risk of thread drift, would you mind sharing how you set the (very unique) EQ settings on the 201 for pedal steel. And which amp voicing too.
I’ve always struggled to find a setting that I feel solid about.

For steel, I generally use the Full Q setting, adjust the Tri-Q to taste (usually 12 o'clock plus or minus maybe 2 o'clock - never extreme - probably most often a bit of clockwise tilt to get a bit more presence), and only roll off the High-Cut if it seems too bright. For me, if the guitar sounds good itself, then this sounds good to me.

I figured I'd like the Surf voicing. I think they were going after a blackface/silverface Twin Reverb type of super-mid-scooped voicing. But I generally find it too mid-scooped for me. But then again, on my real Twin Reverbs, I turn the Mid control up around 8 or 9, Treble on 3-4, and Bass to taste, depending on the guitar.

I think they got the natural sound of these amps about right, to my tastes. A bit of very basic tone control is all I find that I need.

BTW - I want to disavow any sense that I think that my choices are 'best' in any way. I like them, that's it. There are lots of good choices, and the very concept of 'optimal' or 'best' is a totally man-made idea that depends critically on the criteria chosen and the skill of the analyst to make a determination. And usually, any choice like this ends up being largely a matter of preference.

Milkman The AMP 100(2.5 lbs) with 12" Jupiter ceramic in a pedal steel mini cab sans the amp(20 lbs), total 22.5 lbs. Plenty of power, sounds wonderful, lighter and better sounding than anything I've tried.
