GC is an absolute unsung master of the pedal steel. He has an identifiable sound - and he really knows how to make those open strings sing. Loved the pictures on the vid - looks he got an early start & took it from there.

Gary’s CD is outstanding. If you don’t have it, you owe it to yourself to get it.

I don't believe Gary posts here but he did answer a query of mine through his website.

I don't think there's another player I'd sooner listen to. Tone, touch, perfect intonation and a thoroughly musical brain.

Gary's "And So it Goes" is my favourite steel guitar performance. It takes my breath away!

I couldn't agree with you more, Roger! Thrilled to hear this new tune. The intro is jaw dropping!

Guys if you don't have his one and only CD, go get it now, you won't be sorry, I guarantee. He's the king of E9 voicings and perfect intonation, IMHO.

Good to hear, John!

Of course, he plays the bulk of the song as flawlessly as I've come to expect but 'Cold, Cold Heart' isn't one of my favourites.

Those opening measures he plays, however, sent me rushing to my steel! What gorgeous voicings and what mastery of the tuning he has at his fingertips.

Gary's CD should be compulsory listening for any serious student of the steel guitar.

Gary's CD is a desert island must have. He seems to combine elements of all my favorite players (Buddy, Lloyd, Rusty, JD....) and yet he has a brilliant uniqueness that is thrilling and beautiful. I listen to this almost every week!
