Fulawka Pickups

I recently acquired a late 70's Fulawka D-10 completely stock. Great guitar mechanically and visually, but the original pickups aren't doing it for me at all. The tone is clear on the highs and low end, but there's this hollow mid tone that I can EQ out of my amp. Any of you Fulawka players out there ever tried replacing the pickups, if so, what do you recommend?

I recently bought a Fulawka S-10 and it has a Jerry Wallace TrueTone pickup on it. The guitar was made in 2002 so it might be a later model than yours. Sounds good to my ears. YMMV
