The Boston Public Library has digitized its LP collection. There's a lot of bad mid-Century easy listening drek but also lots of terrific music if you have the patience to dig ... like Hi-Fi Guitar, one of Jerry Byrd's best LPs. Enjoy!

This is definitely after JB had kind of cemented his sound, for sure...I've heard some of his earlier 40s stuff where you can hear a hint of his sound, but at this point that's just undeniably JB.
Come a Little Closer, is that his C diatonic? Those don't sound like C6 type chords...

There are moments in this record were I go, "Yep, that's a Bakelite Rickenbacher," but I suppose JB could get that tone elsewhere.

Yes, Come a Little Closer is in C Diatonic. I transcribed it a few years ago. It was a bear to figure out and Guy Cundell was a big help.
Definitely JBs distinctive Bakelite tone (Volu-Tone amp?) was at his peak here and I would argue his tone was never surpassed by later guitars and amps he used.
