| I also had a front row seat for Randy's set on Sunday. Just amazing is all I can say. Randy plays with such emotion. My wife was also with me. she commented that Randy's hand looked like a ballet dancer. It was so smooth. I never looked at it that way. But, she's not wrong. |

| Looking forward to your video, Randy. Love what you’re doing with the E9th. Been playing my Encore almost exclusively for the last couple of years leaving my lovely hybrid D10 at home and getting quite attached to it. After listening to your videos it’s opening up my mind to the extra possibilities on E9th. with the thought of it being a great universal tuning for nearly all of my music. Thank you so much for your efforts, they’re well appreciated. |

I don’t play or own a C6fh tuning. I am playing E9th in the video. You’re probably talking about Tyler Hall, who was indeed playing C6th tuning in the clip.

| Roger Rettig, I noticed that you said you have the change that lowers strings 6 and 9 a half step on your 4th pedal and that you have a Day set up. Do you think it would work as well with an Emmons set up? I have a D10 with a Franklin pedal on the 4th pedal and I don't use it very often and have been thinking of changing it to this change, lowering 6 and 9 a half step. |

I think it works better if it's adjacent to your A pedal. That's a lot of work, moving your pedals over so 6/9 can be at P1.
It would maybe be better on a knee-lever: I think Randy does that and I'm considering it too.
I had the FP but found I didn't use it much. |

In the end it all depends on what compromises we're willing to make or give up... When I had my E's split between my two knees I lowered 6/9 on my LKR and liked it there a lot. BUT when I decided to go back to having both my E's on the left knee, the only other place for me to put it was on the floor... I put mine 2 pedals from my A pedal with the B-Bb pedal between it and my A pedal. Set up like this, the pedals are paired (6/9, B-Bb)(B-Bb, A)(AB)(BC) the pairings are pretty functual.

Is Functual an actual word?
It should be - I know what you meant. 
It's a stretch for me to move the Bs to Bb to a floor pedal, but I'll have to get used to it with my D13th: my pedal 4 is the equivalent of the old C6 P5. Musically, it's the same function, albeit in D. |

| Roger, Dale, thanks for your input. I am looking for something to replace the PF pedal on the 4th pedal of a D10, and it was interesting that both of you thought that the 4th pedal wouldn't be a good place for lowering 6 and 9 a half step due to it's proximity to the A pedal. For right now I'll probably keep the PF pedal, but I'm also considering getting another single neck E9 sometime and the lower 6 and 9 change looks like a good candidate for either a Zero pedal or a knee lever. It sounds like a very useful change. |

Its a word to me, like thingamajig or doohickey... though I KNEW it didn't look right I was having a semi-senior moment and just couldn't make it right in my head... so here tis... Functional, but I bet one day Functual will end up in Websters, but doubt they'll be Punctual about it

Just to correct you, I like the 6/9 lower (my P4) next to the A pedal (my P3).
Dale, on the other hand, lowers his Bs on a pedal and that needs to be adjacent to the A pedal. I lower the Bs on RKL and I always have.
Travis Toy is another who has all those changes (ABC + the two above) on floor pedals. It must work for him (and for Dale). |

| Thanks Roger, I lower my B's with LKV, so there wouldn't be any problem there. I need to think on it more and try to figure out what I could do with it. It's easy to see the minor b5 chord, but Randy had indicated that there is a lot more to it, so I need to think about other possibilities. I think it's cool that you are going to give a D13 a chance. I will be curious to see how you like it as time goes by and you dig into it. |
