Gosh, such sad and tragic news to learn of Larry and Bettys passing. Larry and I became friends over the last 15 years or so, although we never had the chance to meet one another in person. He was always so very soft-spoken and kind. Such a fine, fine and very talented gentleman. He will surely be missed by many!

My deepest condolences to all of his friends and family.

I never met Larry in person, but I communicated with him a couple times through the forum. He was very pleasant and helpful.

I wish our paths had crossed. This is truly a tragic story.

Be careful out there.

This is so sad and unexpected. We hadn't been to visit since covid and were just planning on dropping in next month. I think the first time we hung out in person was when he was selling his Bigsby to someone in San Diego and he stopped to do a gig at the Doll Hut. His Mondays with Red at Trout's were one of the only regular things I could count on when I was touring with various folks. We're really going miss you Larry.

My goodness… rest peacefully, Larry and Betty.
Larry helped me immensely when I was starting out on the pedal steel, and he sold me two fabulous Emmons guitars. His friendship meant so much to me as a budding steeler.

A true gentleman.

Very sad. What a great guy. I did exactly one gig with Larry, and he treated me like an old friend. Inspired me to finally get offa my six-string butt and start playing steel, too. I will never forget that day. Thank you, and RIP Mr. Petree.

Although I never met Larry in person, we had a friendship of over 20 years of telephone conversations and a few steel guitar sales dealings. Of my handful of Bakersfield connections all held Larry in high regard. A gentleman and great loss to our steel guitar community.
