I'm trying to learn Murphey's Aole Pililia from the Hawaii Forever cassette. While I've seen the way Andy Volk has tabbed it out, I'm curious as to what tuning Joaquin might be using, mainly from the higher hammer-on lick (which I've been kind of ignoring for now). My guess would be a C6 variant with a high G.

While I'm using tab as a bit of a crutch when I need it, I'm starting to prefer to transcribe myself as I did with jazz guitar.

Thanks in advance.

I'll assume from the silence that no one knows and will assume a high G, unless there's some other Joaquin tuning that I am not aware of.

There is a lot of mystery in what Joaquin was doing and playing around this time and I am not sure if anyone directly knows. I am very familiar with the recording but never sat down to analyze any of it.

Ok, just checked it out, C6 high G. The main riff is pretty simple.

Thanks Mike. I hear the hammer-on riff that is not difficult at all. Knowing it is a high G changes the way I'll look at transcribing it.
